Robert Reid


Robert Reid, born and raised in Lockport, NY, served two Republican Senate Majority Leaders from the early 1980's until 1991. During that time he drafted and negotiated legislation on a wide range of issues, including energy, environmental, health and social services. In the 1980's Mr. Reid was a Senate staff person and negotiator on environmental and energy legislation including the State’s Bottle Deposit legislation, Environmental Bond Act, allocation of the State’s hydroelectric power, and a variety of other issues. In 1988, Mr. Reid was a lead Senate negotiator involved in the creation of landmark laws to increase Medicaid eligibility levels, provide senior citizens state assistance for prescription drugs (EPIC) and establish the first Medicaid Managed Care law.
